theoleo Wines Founder and CEO, Charles Dick, uncorked a realization for us not too long ago.
We met Charles at the East Coast Golf Management merchandise show in August in Sunset Beach, NC that brings together all the golf courses on the Myrtle Beach Golf Trail with vendors who will supply them and their golfers in 2026.
At first, we couldn’t figure out why a wine company was there.
Then, Charles let us do a taste test of his four wines — Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
It was like ‘down the middle 300 yard drives” each time with an easy swing. Each wine was deliciously nuanced and sophisticated for a wide range of wine palates.
Here’s our segment with us tasting the theoleo wines and giving you the six reasons why you should jump in.
Even if you aren’t playing golf at one of the courses, you will go get a glass for happy hour or dinner.
But theoleo is more than just taste.
These wines are modestly priced — great for young adults starting a career and a family.
But here’s what also hits theoleo fans in this values driven generation.
Every wine sold donates back to conservation.
Add to that the current growth in the golf industry among the younger generation — seeing health benefits added to golf’s tech boom that makes the game more convenient.
Charles realized all this a few years ago when he launched Theoleo Wine. (By the way, the company is named after President Teddy Roosevelt, Theo, the first conservationist president, and Aldo Leopold, Leo, a pioneer in conservationism.)
“We recognize a lot of people who play golf also enjoy being in the outdoors also appreciate conservation and a lot of them are wine drinkers in the Golf community.”
Here, we think, theoleo goes beyond tantalizing your palate while grabbing your heart and your mind — which we think is a staple of being a Jetsetter.
theoleo’s dedication to the environment also embraces United States history.
The name theoleo comes from US President Theodore Roosevelt, the first environmentalist, and one of the first conservationists Aldo Leopold.
Teddy Roosevelt is definitely one of our favorite US presidents. We highly recommend this book, if you want to explore more about TR.
Once we began to delve into the life and work of Aldo Leopold, we realized his impact on the conservation especially from the 1940s on. Here’s a book that he wrote.
Yes, maybe we’re getting a little too deep here over a wine label and its taste.
But we think, like us, most of you desire a good feeling about what you’re tasting and also how it is also helping – and not harming – so many others.
Peruse their website and consider joining one of the wine clubs, where you will get some great deals.
theoleo gives back. 5% of every purchase goes to an environmental cause. If a local restaurant provides theoleo wines then theoleo will contribute to a local environmental cause.
We have more theoleo Wine Segments coming up.
